While it was hoped that Little Honey would make Sept., it is now officially set to be released on Oct. 14th. The first single will be Real Love and that will be released in mid-Sept.
The 13 tracks are:Real Love
Circles & X’s
Tears Of Joy
Little Rock Star
Honey Bee
Well Well Well (with Charlie Louvin & Jim Lauderdale)
If Wishes Were Horses
Jailhouse Tears (with Elvis Costello)
Knowing
Heaven Blues
Rarity
Plan To Marry
It’s A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock N’ Roll)The main leg of the tour will begin, probably in the south around the third week of Sept., and will feature her band Buick 6, as the opener, whose own record will be released imminently, and will be available first only at Lucinda shows.

Though it would have been nice to get the album in September, I’ll take it in October! Can’t wait for Lu to come to Chicago, will be an awesome show with Buick 6 opening. Can’t wait to hear their own stuff!

Listening to the upcoming album by Lucinda Williams, Little Honey, I was thrilled to come across the voice of Elvis Costello on a song called “Jailhouse Tears.” Country/rock duets have a pretty long history and even some commercial success (see Jon Bon Jovi with Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles). But recently, they’ve also gotten pretty damn cool. Here are the best country/rock duets of recent years (and a few don’t even involve Emmylou Harris):
can’t wait for an L.A. date, might have to hit santa cruz (i can’t travel the way some here do, but i love their spirit in doing so!)

Gee, must be nice working for Paste magazine and getting to listen to “Little Honey” almost 3 months before it is released… 😕

July 31, 2008 at 7:24 pm #36227Disco StuParticipantI’ll be looking forward to it. I’m slightly disappointed that only three songs (Circles and X’s, If Wishes Were Horses, and Plan To Marry) will be 100% new to me, but that’s my fault for attending shows and listening to bootlegs. 😉 I’m very interested to hear Well Well Well w/Charlie Louvin and Jim Lauderdale, and also interested to hear how Jailhouse Tears turns out. I like Elvis Costello and have a lot of respect for him, but I can’t help thinking that I’d have picked a lot of other singers above him for that particular song.
July 31, 2008 at 11:06 pm #36228stevarinoParticipantYeah – but Elvis and Lucinda record on the same label so I’m sure it makes the contracts and financials a lot easier. She did a duet with him on his Delivery Man album called There’s a Story in Your Voice. So he’s just returning the favor. Plus, I’ve always been a big Elvis fan, so I’m glad to hear they’ve teamed up again. Maybe they could tour together, kind of like Alison and Robert.
August 3, 2008 at 11:26 pm #36229BigDuncParticipantI’m with Stu….. about “Jailhouse Tears” but I haven’t heard the Elvis Jailhose version yet,so I’ll respectfully wait for a listen,I like him, just not seeing the fit here.(Neil Young ? hmmmm) But hey, what do I know ??? Come see us Okie’s Lu.we love ya.
August 4, 2008 at 6:43 pm #36230zlh67ParticipantI’m assuming the last track is a cover of the old AC/DC song? I always find it interesting when a truly great songwriter elects to cover someone else’s song as to me it’s a show of respect and admiration, so this one is…. kinda confusing!! Don’t get me wrong, I love AC/DC and have for a long time (waaaaay before I discovered Lucinda!), but I never would have predicted her to cover one of their songs in concert, much less on an album! I look forward to hearing it and the rest of these songs…

August 8, 2008 at 4:05 pm #36234parkercaParticipantHas anyone seen artwork for “Little Honey” yet? It should be out soon.
August 8, 2008 at 4:08 pm #36235TimParticipantTony; when I went to the site “Those Three Days” was playing. If you look at the jukebox there’s alot of different songs that can come up. What version of “Car Wheels” was playing for you?
