Does anyone know how I might track down Doug Pettibone’s solo CD ‘The West Gate’? I’ve even tried Doug’s website, to no avail.
Looks like it was released in 2005, but for some odd reason I discovered it’s release only recently. From what little I’ve been able to hear of it, the CD sounds fantastic. There are even 2 vocal appearances by Lu!
I’d like to get an actual CD, although it looks to be totally out of print. Even a lead for mp3s would be much appreciated. All the usual outlets have only led to dead ends.
    thanks.

I bought it off of Doug’s Website last October. That is strange.
I checked the website and the link looks like it went bad. The website might be under repair.
If you have myspace, you could try messaging there.
    Hope this helps some.

thanks for the input, parker. yeah, i noticed doug’s site was down today…hence my desperate post today. lol
a few times i checked last week there though, when the site was up, the CD link looked disabled.
i will ask again at doug’s myspace page. wish me luck 🙂

    thanks again.

I bought a copy last night at the show. He’s still hawking it. As a matter of fact he was standing right next to the display so I had to buy one. 8)

thanks for the heads up on the CD, brian. i’ll remember that at the next show i attend. i’ve never heard the whole CD through, only the tracks with Lu, and one or two others…how’s is it? with Doug’s playing excellence, i imagine it’s all great.
    thanks again 🙂

Doug’s CD is quite good, but don’t go into it thinking it is going to be a guitar heavy album, quite the opposite. The two Doug/Lucinda covers are both great, I think Lucinda recorded both of them when her vocal chords were shredded but I love the interpretations. Doug’s cover of “Into the Mystic” is great and “Little Man” sounds like early 1970’s Rod Stewart which is a high compliment.

That is really odd that the link on Doug’s website doesn’t work though. I know when I ordered it a few years ago there was a problem and I had to e-mail them about it, but I did wind up receiving it.

    thanks for the info Clive.
the songs you list are the ones i’ve heard. they’re good enough they’ve made me curious about the rest.
Doug did reply to an original message i sent him some months back about not knowing his site had the problem, and that he’d look into getting it fixed.
as it still isn’t, i mailed him again this week. he’s such a nice guy, maybe he can come up with a plan B if his computer guy is still out to lunch.
    wish me luck 🙂
