Two nights Lu and the band in top shape. Nice she shook up the set list so much.
The show was recorded on cam in superb quality, both view and sound, not sure if the guys will release it though.November 11, 2007 at 9:13 am #34954scdegraafParticipantI recorded the show. I had a quick listen and i.m.h.o. it sounds very good.
I will share it on Dime when I have time to prepare it.November 11, 2007 at 10:16 am #34955HaarlemParticipantI saw Lu in Paradiso, Amsterdam in 2004 and 2006. I was looking forward to the show in the Patronaat in Haarlem, last night. Altough it was not bad, I was a bit dissapointed.
I had the impession Lucinda did not really was in good shape. After she forgot her lines in the second song (can happen to all of us) she did not seem to get the show on the road. A lot of conversations with the band to adjust the setlist over and over again and it seemed to me she did not realy liked the gig herself.
And why did she not play any song from her latest album, West? Only at the last three songs of the gig, I saw the ‘old’ Lucinda from 2004 and 2006 back.

It’s true Lu made 2 false starts, but that’s almost her trademark. I have come to the point where I think 2 is not bad at all. Besides, she does it so charmingly you’d forgive her anything.
Moving the setlist around: that’s also very usual. She lets herself be influenced by the atmosphere in the venue, the sound, the audience. I know artist, Steve Earle is a “good”example who only play exactly as the setlist dictates and never changes one thing. I prefer Lu’s way.
Lu remarked that the sound in the venue was very good and she’s known to play great when the sound is good.
She was limited by the festival, she could only play 75 minutes.
I have seen her in 2006 and I definitely prefer this tour.
November 11, 2007 at 11:47 am #34957HaarlemParticipantDon’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the show (and the festival). In 2004 Lucinda also made a ‘false start’ and changed the setlist. Nothing wrong with that. I also prefer that artists do that and anticipate on the atmosphere while they are playing than having someone perform as a robot and just ‘do their thing’. But I get a bit irritated when on a 75 minute show, there are four or five (sometimes long) interruptions because the band has to decide to play which song next.
(Did you see more bands playing yesterday? I loved Nathan Hamilton!)November 11, 2007 at 5:34 pm #34958keesParticipanti think she was in great shape! She was dressed to rock and did.
Not sure why she came back for only one song, could be the fixed program too. I thought the audience reacted very well too, not much difference from the audience in R’dam who responded well too in my humble opinion…..
Those two falste starts were only brief and did not interrupt the show for me at all.
It was a very high quality gig for me and i thought Lu was having a good time herself tooNovember 11, 2007 at 7:24 pm #34959netraamParticipant@scdegraaf wrote:

Which was insane! No reason why she couldn’t have played on. I felt ‘Passionate Kisses’, as the only encore, was a let-down.
I have seen her in 2006 and I definitely prefer this tour.
Me too, the band is much better. However, in my humble opinion, it is still not nearly as magical as it was in 2003 (mind you, Lucinda didn’t tour NL during 2004).

November 13, 2007 at 10:11 pm #34961gazelleParticipantI saw both concerts ,in off corso and patroonaat ,I loved both of them, I think the Rotterdam concert was a very polished performance, and the the crowd responded very well , I really liked the coversation between the songs, Lucinda is a very charming women,I liked the riders on the the storm cover and the the story behind her playing it, and the unpluged solo of passionate kisses {washing the the dishes} each night was superb. The patronaaat concert did not seem as relaxed to me but my wife prefered it, some of the audience were booing and heckling at one point, when the the band were discussing the set change , maybe they thought the were still at a football game or something.. Anway cant wait to get the opportunity to see her again. the other thing I liked at the concerts were the tracks that were playing on the cd before the shows most of which I did not recognise,.More songs from West would have being great aswell.
