Hey all-
New member here. I’ve been a fan of Lucinda for a while now, but just recently rediscovered her. I have a question that I can’t find an answer to.
My friend swears he once heard a Lucinda Williams song about Slidell (a smaller city in southern Louisiana). I know ‘Joy’ mentions Slidell, but he says it wasn’t ‘Joy,’ but a song that actually talked about the city. As far as I can tell, there’s no song on her albums like that. Is there a rare, unreleased, or live track about Slidell?
It couldn’t be Lafayette, possibly, rather than Slidell? There could be a song none of us have heard, though. Was this recently?
He says it was fairly recent. He heard it in a record store in Pearlington, LA, but didn’t ask about it, thinking it was just a track off an album. I called the store and asked, but the guy had no clue what I was talking about.
It’s always possible my friend mistook Lucinda’s voice for somebody else’s, but in my opinion, it’s pretty tough to get her voice confused.
