Loved the show last night. She looks good and sounds good. Nice strong voice. I didn’t like the violin on Joy, it was industrial strength and overpowered everything else, including itself. She messed up the words to Righteously, but it made no difference, the song was great. If anybody wrote down the set list I would love to see it, I’m going to make a playlist of what I remember.
April 19, 2007 at 3:31 pm #32622smitquestParticipantYeah, a really good show last night. She flubbed a few lines here and there, and maybe coughed a couple lyrics away (damn pollution), but I thought it was the most refreshing show I’ve seen in years–it seems like every concert I see lately feels so scripted, by-the-book, and slightly lifeless. It was great seeing a performer who had things on her mind, a microphone in front of her, and a captive audience, and the spirit to say WHATEVER popped into her head!!!
(Sorry, I’m new here, and I’m sure that I’m preaching to the choir here, but this was my first Lucinda show, been a fan for years etc etc etc, and it was so great that the whole thing was everything I’d hoped for…)
As an aside, although I do see what you mean about the fiddle in Joy, I thought that Carrie Rodriguez was fantastic, and I’m kicking myself for not waiting for an autograph! (The fiddle was riding a little too roughshod over the mix at the end because EVERYTHING was riding too high in the mix–if I’d’ve been running the show, even Ms. Williams’ mic would’ve been turned down a tad. Not that it was bad, I just like the sound to breathe a little more…)
Ahhhh, my first post. Hope I did okay…

(No setlist, sorry.)

April 19, 2007 at 10:18 pm #32626Little StarParticipantLast night’s show was awesome. I saw her in Toronto the night before and definitely feel she and her band were much tighter in Buffalo. As for her mess up with lyrics- I love when musicians make mistakes. It is what makes live performances feel real. I do not know about anyone else but when she tells stories on stage (not her sad ones 🙁 ) she just cracks me up. Was so happy to have seen her both in Buffalo and Toronto!
April 20, 2007 at 11:50 am #32627KaesParticipantThe Buffalo show was excellent – one of the best concerts I’ve seen, not just by Lucinda, but by anybody. The band was excellent and Lucinda was engaged and on fire. I don’t care about vocal flubs (seriously, I’ve seen upwards of 20 Dylan shows…..I can assure you I’m immune to blown lyrics at this stage), words are unimportant if they are not delivered with their due respect, and aside from two flubs, Lucinda gave every word treatment that no other singer could deliver; in the end, that’s far more important.
Come on back Lu!!!!!!!

Welcome, I agree that the later half of the show was definately cranked up to 11! Lu was beautiful, funny, raw, and exposed all night.
The entire show was stellar. Vocal and instrumental highlights were too numerous to mention. Everything from 2 Kool>Joy blew the roof off.
GREAT show, Lu and her “new” band are just hitting their stride. You folks out West are in for a real treat. If you are a fan of The Love Band, give these guys a shot.April 21, 2007 at 1:37 pm #32630augwestParticipantyou can download an audience recording of this show at shnflac.net for those who are torrent-savvy.
